Chicken Tests Positive for Avian Flu in Scott County

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- Health officials have confirmed that a chicken in Scott County has tested positive for Avian flu.

The Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission confirmed on Tuesday evening that the chicken tested positive for H7N7 Low Pathogenic Avian Influenza, resulting in the commission ordering that all poultry within a 6.2-mile radius of the growing operation where the infected bird was located, be quarantined.

The governor's office says Avian flu cannot be transmitted to people through the consumption of properly prepared poultry.

Fire Damages Family Health Clinic

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- About 12 people escaped a fire that destroyed a family health clinic on Monday afternoon.

According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the Baptist Health Family Clinic on the 5200 block of East Broadway Street caught fire just after 12 p.m., causing a smoke cloud that could be seen from over one mile away.

Firefighters contained the flames and eventually extinguished the fire, though the clinic suffered "extensive" damage, the Democrat-Gazette reported.

Approximately nine employees and three patients were inside the clinic, but all managed to get out.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

Ruptured Water Line Causes Road Problems

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- A ruptured water drainage line near Colonel Maynard Road will require $56,000 in repairs.

According to the North Little Rock Times, repairs are set to begin within the next week, though Mayor Joe Smith reportedly wants to begin receiving bids on the project as soon as possible. As of Monday morning, one lane of the road has been shut down, though the remaining lane could be closed if conditions get worse, says the Times.

Repairs are expected to take between two and four weeks, depending on the condition of the pipe.

Robbers Force Man to Undress and Run Down Street

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- Police are searching for two robbers who forced a man to remove his clothes and run down the street on Wednesday night.

According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the suspects approached a 60-year-old man standing in front of a house. The victim told police that one of the men brandished a handgun, told him to undress and then run down the street.

The victim contacted police from a neighbor's home. His shirt and shoes were recovered at the scene, but his pants, wallet, cell phone and keys were taken by the robbers, reports the Democrat-Gazette.

The robbers were described as a pair of black men. One of the suspects was about 5-feet-10 inches tall and 135 pounds and the other was approximately 5-feet-6 inches tall and 120 pounds.

No arrests have been made.

Gunman Grabs Cash Register in Gas Station Robbery

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Little Rock gas station at gunpoint on Wednesday.

The robbery happened on Wednesday morning at the Shell gas station located at 19500 Cantrell Road. A store clerk told police a man armed with a handgun robbed the convenience store by taking an entire cash register, along with an unknown amount of cash.

The gunman then fled in a dark-colored SUV.

Suspect Arrested Shortly After Bank Robbery

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a Little Rock Bank on Tuesday afternoon.

Carl Willis was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and theft of property. The charges stem from a robbery at a bank located on the 500 block of Broadway Street.

Little Rock Police say Willis entered the bank and told a teller, "this is a stick up," before taking an undisclosed amount of money from the bank and fleeing. Willis was taken into custody a few minutes later around 2:30 p.m.

Public Meeting Set to Discuss South Main Street Bike Lane Plans

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- The Little Rock Public Works Department is looking into converting a four-lane stretch of South Main Street into three or more bike lanes, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

The proposed bike lane would stretch from Interstate 630 south to Roosevelt Road.

The department has arranged for a public meeting to discuss the proposal. Representatives from the traffic engineering and civil engineering division will be there to address concerns about traffic and safety, and to hear from the public.

The meeting will be held June 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rufus K. Young Christian Church at 2020 South Main Street.

Police Investigating Shots Fired Near Cheatham Park

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- Little Rock police are investigating a shooting Saturday afternoon near Cheatham Park.

Officers said that three individuals were walking on East Capitol Avenue near the park at 5:38 p.m. Saturday when one of them began firing a handgun at random. Nobody was injured during the spree, but a car and up to two residences were damaged by stray bullets.

Police who arrived to investigate the incident recovered 16 rounds in or near the park, but the handgun was not recovered.

A man that police initially thought was the shooting was taken into custody on Saturday, but was later released without charges after being questioned.

Police are still investigating what they’re calling a “terroristic act.”

Gunman Grabs Money Bags in Store Robbery

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- A gunman made off with six bags of money during a robbery at a Little Rock store on Friday morning.

The robbery happened around 5:25 a.m. at the Kroger store located at 8415 Markham Street. A store employee told Little Rock Police that she had emptied money from a number of self checkout machines at the store, and the money was placed in bags to be counted. Police say that's when a man brandishing a gun entered the business, and demanded money from the employee.

The robber then took the bags of money and fled on foot.

Cops Search for Suspect in Armed Robbery at Shell Store

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- Little Rock Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a local store at gunpoint on Tuesday.

The robbery happened shortly after midnight at the Ranch Max Mart Shell, located at 16900 Cantrell Road. A clerk told police that a man wearing a stocking over his face, entered the store displaying a silver revolver and demanded money from a cash register. The robber then took an undisclosed amount of money from the store, put it in a bag and fled on foot.
