Schools Remind Parents of Immunizations

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- With the new school year approaching, families are reminded to keep their children’s vaccinations up to date, reports ABC affiliate KATV-TV.

In Arkansas, kindergarteners are required to have two doses of the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, even if they have already had chickenpox.

Seventh graders, on the other hand, need one dose of the Tdap vaccine, which prevents tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.

Contact your local county health unit for more information on receiving shots.
