Assembly Members Told to Check Guns at Door

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) -- The debate over gun control is heating up once again at the state capitol. The issue at hand is that four state assembly members who had been given permission to carry concealed weapons now must check their guns at the door.

Under a 2010 law, the sergeant-at-arms gave four unnamed lawmakers permission to carry a concealed weapon under the capitol dome. The law was revoked Friday by Assembly Speaker John Perez (D-Los Angeles) in order to review the policy.

A proposal to allow lawmakers to carry a concealed weapon is making its way through committee.
