Escaped Inmate Back in Custody

(MIRAMONTE, Calif.) -- An inmate who escaped from the Miramonte Conservation Camp in Fresno County last week, is back in custody, the state's Department of Corrections announced Monday.

In a news release, officials said Jose Garcia, 39, was taken into custody after he turned himself in around 11 p.m. on Friday.

Garcia -- who began serving a seven-year sentence in February for disregard of public safety -- walked away from the facility on June 6.
