First Free Fishing Day This Weekend

(LOS ANGELES) -- Fishing enthusiasts will have a chance to do some "on the house" fishing in California this weekend.

The state's Department of Fish and Game has announced that Saturday is the first of two free fishing days for the year, meaning that individuals can go fishing in waters across the state without having to buy a sport fishing license.

Though no license is required on the day, officials said all other fishing regulations remain in effect.

The other free fishing day will be on September 8.
