Hollywood Producer Named California's 'Volunteer of the Year'
(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) -- A Hollywood producer has been named California's 2012 "Volunteer of the Year."
In an announcement at the 2012 Governor's Volunteering and Service Awards on Tuesday night, Governor Jerry Brown revealed Scott Budnick as this year's recipient of the award for Budnick's devotion towards helping California inmates get a higher education.
The state's Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said the Youthful Offender Program, with contributions from Budnick, has created a unique learning environment where inmates reside in a dormitory set aside exclusively for those enrolled in college.
Budnick also reportedly supports California Polytechnic University's Prison Education Program and the Prison Art Program.
