Kevin Vann Named Bishop to Lead California Roman Catholic Diocese

(WASHINGTON) -- Forth Worth, Texas, Bishop Kevin Vann is headed out west to take up a new post.

Pope Benedict XVI has named Vann as the bishop of the Orange, California diocese. The 61-year-old Vann will replace 75-year-old Bishop Tod Brown, who resigned from the pastoral government of the diocese.

Vann was ordained as a priest in 1981, according to the U.S Conference of Catholic Bishops website, and has led the Fort Worth Diocese since 2005.
