Mother Gives Birth to Child on 605 Freeway

(LOS ALAMITOS, Calif.) -- Around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, a mother gave birth to a baby girl not in a hospital, but on the side of the road.

The mother, whose name has not been released along with the rest of the family's names, was being driven to the Los Alamitos Medical Center in preparation to have her child. She instead told her husband to pull over and delivered a healthy child on the 605 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A hospital spokesperson said both the mother and child were doing fine late Monday morning.
