Report: 35 Babies Exposed to Tuberculosis

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) -- Officials in Sacramento and Solano County are urgently trying to locate the parents of 35 babies who have been exposed to tuberculosis, according to a report in The Sacramento Bee.

The exposure to TB occurred in the neonatal intensive units in two hospitals in Sacramento County and Solano County.  Twenty babies were exposed at Sacramento's Sutter Memorial Hospital, and 15 babies were exposed in Solano County's NorthBay Medical Center, which is located in Fairfield.  Officials say the babies need immediate testing or treatment for TB.

According to the report, an individual with TB visited Sutter between March 14 and 31, and the same person visited NorthBay from March 31 to April 2 and April 11 to April 19, according to the report.
