Six Tennessee Airports Get $394K in Grants

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- Six airports across Tennessee are set to benefit from federal and state aeronautics grants totaling $394,100.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced Monday the approval of the grants, naming the following airports as recipients: John A. Baker Field (Lewis County), Houston County Airport, Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport, McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport (Madison County), Hassell Field (Wayne County) and Smithville Municipal Airport (DeKalb County).

The grants are awarded through the TDOT's Aeronautics Division, which offers funding to assist with location, design, construction and maintenance of the state's public aviation system.
