1,000 Acres of Land Used in Marijuana Operation Transferred to State

(WASHINGTON) -- Some 1,000 acres of land that were previously involved in a marijuana distribution operation are to be officially transferred to the state of Tennessee.

According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice, the land which is located on Short Mountain in Woodbury, Tenn., was forfeited to the state as part of the 2007 convictions of Morris Roller and Jeffory Carl Young for distribution of marijuana. Roller and Young are currently serving prison sentences of 200 months and 224 months, respectively.

Officials said the land will be made available for public use for small game hunting, hiking and wildlife viewing.
