Research Shows Broadband Access Gap Decreasing
(CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.) -- New research made public by Connected Tennessee reveals that the broadband availability gap in the state is decreasing, with 95 percent of Tennesseans now having access to broadband, The Chattanoogan reports.
Additionally, the number of Tennessee households having access to fixed broadband speeds of at least 100 Mbps download/1.5 Mbps upload almost doubled from 41.8 percent in October 2011 to 77.9 percent.
Corey Johns, executive director of Connected Tennessee, said that while the company's efforts to bridge the broadband access gap are succeeding, they must continue to work to bring broadband to the remaining 123,220 Tennessee households without access, the paper says.
