Tennessee Cities Awarded Hazardous Waste Grants

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) –- On Wednesday, the state Department of Environment and Conservation awarded Tennessee’s four largest cities grants of up to $680,000 over the next two years to keep its household hazardous waste disposal program running, according to The Tennessean.

Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, and Nashville will each get $170,000 for disposing of household hazardous waste items, which include paint thinner, pool chemicals, brake fluid, mercury thermometers, fluorescent bulbs, pesticides, cleaning fluids, adhesives, aerosols and batteries.
