Education Department Announces 21 'Exemplary' School Districts
(SEVIERVILLE, Tenn.) -- Twenty-one school districts across Tennessee are being recognized for showing significant improvement in student performance by the state's Department of Education.
The list of 2011-2012 exemplary school districts was revealed on Monday. The list -- which can be viewed here -- reflects those school districts which have shown improved student performance and narrowed achievement gaps under Tennessee’s new accountability system, according to a department news release.
"Growing results while closing achievement gaps is incredibly hard work," Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman said in a statement. "We’re excited with the overall results across the state, and we particularly want to highlight those districts that have excelled in both areas."
