Dept. of Safety and Homeland Security Gets State Accreditation
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- Tennessee's Department of Safety and Homeland Security has become the first state agency to earn accreditation at both the state and national levels.
The department received state accreditation from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation Program governing board. This is in addition to the national accreditation that the department has from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).
"Although the Department has held CALEA accreditation for years, it is important to be state accredited to show the commitment of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Driver Services Division, and the Office of Homeland Security to providing professional excellence in public safety to our citizens," Department Commissioner Bill Gibbons said in a statement.
