Judge Resigns Amid Investigation for Soliciting Sex
(MURRAY COUNTY, Tenn.) -- Officials confirm that a judge who has been under investigation after being accused of soliciting a woman for sex and pre-signing warrants has resigned, The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports.
An official said Chief Magistrate Bryant Cochran has agreed to resign and never be a judge again, and said local authorities must decide whether to prosecute him on criminal charges. Cochran allegedly told Angie Garmley he would rule in her favor in a case she had before the court if she had sex with him, the paper says.
Officials said he also pre-signed warrants that were then used to arrest people.
