Police: 75K Honor 35th Anniversary of Elvis' Death at Graceland

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- Police estimate that 75,000 people came to honor the 35th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death at a candelight vigil Wednesday night, The Commercial Appeal reports.

The public relations director for Elvis Presley Enterprises said that attendance for Elvis Week events was greater than the 30th anniversary in 2007. He said 500 people per hour were touring the mansion on Wednesday, which was "unheard of," the paper says.

Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley made a brief appearance for the first time ever this year before the start of the Candlelight Vigil.
