Local Police Officer Arrested on Sex Trafficking Charges

(MEMPHIS, Tenn.) -- A Memphis police officer has been arrested on sex trafficking charges, the Knoxville News Sentinel reports.

Officers arrested 30-year-old Sean McWhirter Sunday and charged him with transportation of women in interstate commerce for prostitution. McWhirter, who has been with the force since July 2007, was released on $10,000 bail, the paper says.

He has been relieved of duty with pay, according to the Sentinel.
