State May Aid in Tire Removal in East Knox County

(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) -- Thousands of tires have been dumped on the hillside property of Carl Trent in East Knox County, and he is petitioning for the state to help him clean up the mess, ABC affiliate WATE-TV reports.

Because the Tennessee Legislature banned whole tires from being disposed in landfills, people have been disposing of the tires in other ways like tossing them on Trent’s private property.

The State Department of Environment and Conservation and Knox County Solid Waste Director, Tom Salter, have visited Trent’s property and reviewing whether or not they will provide money from the waste tire fund in several months to remove the tires from the property.
