Tired of reading stories about how Adele's 21 is the best-selling album of the year? Well, here's a new one: her new DVD Live at the Royal Albert Hall is now the best-selling music video of the year.
According to Yahoo!'s Chart Watch, in the one week that it's been out, the DVD sold 96,000 copies. That automatically makes it the best-selling music video of the entire year; the runner-up is Beyonce's I Am...World Tour, which has sold 63,000 copies. In addition, Adele's DVD racked up the greatest one-week sales tally of any music video in the past four years.
Yahoo! says that with this latest accomplishment, Adele is now assured of topping Nielsen Soundscan's year-end album, song and video sales charts, with 21, "Rolling in the Deep" and Live at the Royal Albert Hall respectively. No artist has ever topped all three of these year-end charts. The closest any prior artists have come is topping two of the three charts: 'N SYNC topped the album and video sales charts in 2000; rapper 50 Cent also topped those two charts in 2003.
