Bush Frontman Gavin Rossdale Talks "Sea of Memories"
Davis FactorFans of Bush on Tuesday got their hands on the band’s first new studio album in a decade, called The Sea of Memories. In a recent interview with ABC News Radio, lead singer Gavin Rossdale explained that it took a long time to make a new Bush album because he was waiting for guitarist Nigel Pulsford to rejoin the band. "Every time I did a record, I wanted it to be a Bush record and it didn’t work out because Nigel didn’t want to come back,” said Rossdale. “I kept on trying to wait for it to be the pure return…but he’s really happy where he is and I respect that as I respect him.”
Chris Traynor took over guitarist duties for the band and Rossdale noted that having him in the mix helped with the songwriting process for the new album. “I’ve got better and I’ve gotten more articulate as a musician and in the studio,” explains Rossdale. “The songs are pretty much formed, but I’m always very, very collaborative and open to things. [Traynor will] suggest certain things that make a lot of sense we’ll change things. Nothing is written in stone but I like to give a good healthy sketch so that it’s fun.”
Bush is currently on a U.S. tour with Chevelle and Filter.
