Paul McCartney, Fiancée Attend Premiere of "Ocean's Kingdom" Ballet

Paul McCartney and his fiancée, Nancy Shevell, were in New York City on Thursday evening for the opening performance of Ocean's Kingdom, the ballet that features a score composed by the Beatles legend.  Also in attendance were Sir Paul's daughter Stella, who designed the costumes for the piece, and a wide variety of celebrities that included -- according to Getty Images -- such music stars as Jon Bon Jovi, The Monkees' Micky Dolenz and E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zant.

The ballet, which tells the story of a romance between a land-dwelling prince and a princess from an underwater world, ran about 50 minutes, according to The Telegraph.  The UK newspaper praised the "stellar performances" of the New York City Ballet dancers, while saying the piece "had something of a school play feel to it."  McCartney hit the stage at the end of the performance to enthusiastic cheers from the audience, Bloomberg.com reports.  The website added that the premiere event, which kicked off the New York City Ballet's 2011 Fall Gala, raised about $4 million for the dance company.
