Lady Gaga Says Cher's Outfits Inspired Her Own Crazy Style
Kevin Mazur/Wire ImageLong before Lady Gaga arrived on the scene, the star who used to grab headlines for wearing outrageous outfits was Cher. And Gaga says that she feels that as a child, she somehow absorbed Cher's out-there fashion sense and made it her own.
Noting that her favorite Cher ensemble is the leather jacket and barely-there bodysuit combo that the singer sported in the video for "If I Could Turn Back Time," Gaga tells People magazine, "I dress like that! That's my everyday look. Maybe just sort of subliminally when I was younger, without even realizing it, one day I knew that was the kind of woman I would become." Gaga and Cher are preparing to release a duet called "The Greatest Thing" sometime this fall.
Continuing on the topic of fashion, Gaga tells People that despite reports, she and her little sister Natali are not creating a fashion line together. She says, "She’s working on her own work and she’s really incredibly talented and I’m so proud of her."
As for her own fashion choices, Gaga says believe it or not, there are many things that even she wouldn't wear. "I'm really just like anyone else when I get dressed," she tells the magazine. "I just have a particular style and things that I like." She says she even wears sweatpants sometimes when she's rehearsing, adding, "Everyone’s asked me that -- like I have some vendetta [against certain types of clothes]. Wear what you like, be who you are."
