Alicia Keys Is "Supremely Inspired" by "American Idol" Contestant
ABC/Ida Mae AstuteSome artists hate it when American Idol hopefuls butcher their songs, but many are just as happy when someone actually does a good job on one of their signature tunes. Alicia Keys is in the latter category.
This past week, after witnessing hopeful Amy Brumfield, aka The Girl who Lives in a Tent in the Woods, getting a golden ticket to Hollywood with a rendition of her song "Superwoman," Alicia tweeted, "Supremely inspired by Amy Brumfield from @AmericanIdol She is a true #SUPERWOMAN!," and included a link to a video of Amy's audition.
We're not sure if Alicia was aware that Amy has been arrested six times in the past seven years -- according to TMZ -- but perhaps her successful audition -- and Alicia's support -- will be the start of a new chapter in the 24-year-old Tennessee native's life.
In other "artists liking Idol contestants' renditions of their songs" news, former Idol champ David Cook tweeted his appreciation for Colton Ford's rendition of his song "Permanent," which Ford performed Wednesday night on the show. "Awesome seeing Colton singing 'Permanent' tonight on @AmericanIdol. Humbled and flattered that he chose that song." David wrote the song about his late brother, Adam, who died of brain cancer in 2009.
