Lacuna Coil Talks Covering R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" for "Dark Adrenaline"

Century MediaOn Tuesday, fans of Lacuna Coil got their hands on the band’s sixth studio album, Dark Adrenaline. The album features 11 new tracks and also includes a cover of R.E.M.’s 1991 classic “Losing My Religion.”  In a recent interview with ABC News Radio, frontwoman Cristina Scabbia revealed why they chose to add their version of the hit song to Dark Adrenaline’s track list. “’Losing my Religion’ fits perfectly, lyrically, with the mood of the album,” explained Scabbia.  “We wanted a very popular song that the people could sing at our concerts.  Whether you know the band or not, everyone is gonna be together in that particular moment because everybody will be able to sing the song.”

Frontman Andrea Ferro added that he’s looking forward to hearing fans' reactions to their interpretation of the song.  “It's just more challenging for us to try to do a version of a song which is not strictly a metal song,” noted Ferro.  “Obviously, there will be people that say, 'Oh, it's too different from the original,’ or people that love it because it's totally our style so it's good to hear also the different opinions of about the songs, you know, and it's very challenging and fun for us to do.”

In other Lacuna Coil news, the group will be a part of the lineup for Megadeth’s newly revived Gigantour -- along with Motörhead and Volbeat -- which kicks off at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ on Thursday.
