Wilco Hangs Out With Popeye in “Dawned on Me” Video
dBpm RecordsWilco has gone animated. In the video for the band’s single “Dawned on Me,” Wilco transports themselves into a ‘30s Popeye cartoon, where they hang out with the spinach-eating sailor along with classic characters Olive Oyl, Swee’ Pea, Wimpy, and Bluto. The storyline plays out like a classic Popeye cartoon with one exception: frontman Jeff Tweedy ends up walking away hand-in-hand with Olive Oyl, with Popeye’s blessing.
In other Wilco news, the band released their exclusive live iTunes Session on Tuesday. The eight-song set includes material from the band’s latest album, The Whole Love; “War on War,” from 2002’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot; “Passenger Side,” from their 1995 debut album A.M.; and a cover of Nick Lowe’s 1979 pop hit “Cruel to Be Kind” featuring Lowe himself.
