Lenny Kravitz Talks "Negrophilia", Acting in "The Hunger Games"

Roadrunner RecordsLenny Kravitz is a busy guy. Last August, the singer released his ninth studio album, Black and White America, and now it appears that he’s almost done with his tenth. Titled Negrophilia, Kravitz told Billboard.com that the album is “very funky, very, very raw.”

Kravitz added that fans can expect the new album to be very different from his last one. “Black and White America was very produced,” explained the singer. “Although it's all natural and organic, it's a very produced record. That's the mode I was in at that time. But [Negrophilia] is a very raw, jagged-edged album."

The singer said that he was working on songs for both Black and White America and Negrophilia at the same time.  "I'm strange like that," noted Kravitz. "At the end of the day, I'm one that goes with the inspiration. So if I'm working on an album and all of a sudden I go in another direction because that's where inspiration takes you, I'll just follow that. I'm just comfortable working that way."

In addition to checking out Kravitz on his current Black and White America tour, fans can also see him on the big screen in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, which hits theaters on March 23. "I really enjoyed [working on] that," said Kravitz. "I was an actor as a kid; anyone who would have known me then would've probably thought that's what I was going to be doing...so I'm pretty happy that acting has come back to me. It's a good time for it to be coming back to me, and I'm hoping to do a lot more of it."
