Oprah Not Blue Ivy's Godmother, Says Gayle King

Kevin Mazur/WireImageThe news was like something out of a celeb fairytale: Beyonce has a baby girl with Jay-Z, then Oprah gets the title of godmother, and they live happily ever after.  But alas, Oprah's good pal Gayle King says that the magical story isn't true.  "It's absolutely not true that she's the godmother," Gayle reportedly said Friday on CBS' The Early Show.  "She's friends with them, of course, and likes them both very much.  She's working on sending them a baby gift.  She hasn't even had time to send a baby gift because she's been away."

Gayle says that if Jay and Bey really did pick Oprah for the special role in Blue Ivy's life, then, "It is news to her. You know, she was heading to South Africa when the baby was born."

There had been rumors that Oprah celebrated little Blue's arrival by sending her a bundle of children's books.  Predictions also swirled around who would get the coveted godparents positions.  Kanye West, and Jay's longtime friend Tyran "Ty Ty" Smith were said to be on the shortlist for godfather.  And some folks guessed that the hopefuls for godmother included Jay and Bey's good friend Gwyneth Paltrow, who tweeted about Blue's birth shortly after her arrival.
