Taylor Swift has one of the most squeaky-clean images of any young celebrity out there these days. She never wears scandalous outfits, she's never had any run-ins with the law, she's never been photographed stumbling out a nightclub drunk, and she's not known to do drugs. Because of that, Taylor says, she's frequently misunderstood.
Speaking to Glamour magazine -- she graces the cover of its new issue -- Taylor laments, "I think some people think it's just apple pie and sunshine and sprinkles and ponies. Which is just funny."
However, Taylor says she isn't tempted to do something outrageous to change people's minds. "I never feel the need to go out and make some grand statement that I'm dark and twisty and complicated, because I'm not that either," she explains. "It's just not as simple as ponies and rainbows, though I do love ponies and rainbows."
Taylor also opens up about her relationship with her female friends, telling Glamour, "They are so important in my life right now. I'm the kind of girl who needs to tell her friends everything." Noting that two of her best friends are actress Emma Stone and singer/actress Selena Gomez, Taylor explains, "I met Emma when I was 17, and I met Selena when I was 18. So they've experienced all of this with me, and they've also experienced their own amazing success, and somehow through all of it, we've stayed close."
On the music front, Taylor scores her fifth #1 hit on Billboard's Digital Songs chart, selling 299,000 copies of her new country single, "Begin Again." It'll be included on Taylor's fourth album, Red, coming October 22.
