The nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2013 were announced early Thursday, and they include Donna Summer, Procol Harum and The Marvelettes.
The other nominees are Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Randy Newman, Rush, Deep Purple, Kraftwerk, Chic, Albert King, The Meters and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.
The veteran acts will make a bid for entry into the Rock Hall for the first time, as will influential rap groups Public Enemy and N.W.A.
The inductees will be announced in mid-December. You can take part in the decision-making process by casting your vote on RollingStone.com from now until December 5. The top five acts will make up a "fan's ballot" that will be included among the ballots of the 600 artists, music historians and members of the industry who will select the class of 2013.
The 2013 induction ceremony is scheduled for April 18 in Los Angeles.
