DJ Khaled and Bow Wow are getting the word out about the McDonald's Flavor Battle, a 13-week national DJ competition, featuring 24 of the country's hottest up-and-coming masters of the ones and twos. On Thursday, Khaled and Bow will be at the Times Square McDonald's in New York City, where they'll host an exclusive launch party for this year's Flavor Battle, co-sponsored by Complex magazine.
"Being a DJ isn't a sideline gig, it's a culture and a lifestyle," Khaled says in a statement. "To be successful it takes steady dedication, drive and practice."
The Flavor Battle champion will be chosen by a celebrity panel and will take home a $10,000 grand prize.
Each DJ in the competition represents a U.S. region and a McDonald's burger. East Coast-based mix-masters carry the badge of the Angus Third Pounder. DJs from the central part of the country rep for the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese, and those from the West Coast rep for the classic Big Mac.
Khaled wants music lovers to visit the Flavor Battle website and vote daily for their favorite DJ in each region. Voters will be entered into a contest to win a $2,000 cash grand prize or a trip to Miami to check out the contest's finale February 7.
