Jason Aldean's new single, "The Only Way I Know," features his buddies Eric Church and Luke Bryan, and those three guys just happen to be nominated against each other in the Favorite Male Artist - Country category at the American Music Awards Sunday night in Los Angeles.
Says Jason, "To be up for that award against my two boys, I think that's pretty funny."
Luke and Jason scored their first American Music Awards nominations the same year, and they flew out to the show together. Jason was glad to have a friend with him from the country world for the multi-genre ceremony.
He describes the AMAs saying,"It's kind of like the Grammys or those things where you get a ton of different artists in a room together from all different genres, and backstage it's really interesting."
Though Jason is a regular nominee at just about every awards show possible these days, he's still thankful for his this nod from the American Music Awards.
"You just never know when that part of your career is gonna come to an end," Jason says. "I mean, you ain't gonna get nominated for those things forever."
Jason has yet to take home an American Music Award though, and he adds with a laugh, "If Luke gets one before I do, I'm gonna be pissed."
Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift are set to perform on the 40th Anniversary American Music Awards airing live on ABC Sunday night at 8 ET. Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum and Florida Georgia Line will serve as presenters.
