Yes has generated some big touring plans for the new year. The British prog-rockers have lined a late-winter/early-spring North American outing during which they'll deliver full performances of three of their classic 1970s albums -- 1971's The Yes Album, 1972's Close to the Edge and 1977's Going for the One.
The tour is scheduled to get under way on March 1 in West Wendover, Nevada, and is plotted out through an April 12 show in Detroit. The last time the band played any of their albums in its entirety in concert was 1973.
Longtime Yes drummer Alan White says of the trek, "This is a great opportunity to show the growth of Yes in these different eras -- and to relive the memories of these times."
Guitarist Steve Howe notes, "These albums we all easily agreed on -- they are complete works in themselves."
The Yes Album marked the band's first top-40 success in the U.S. and included the staples "Yours Is No Disgrace" and "I've Seen All Good People." Close to the Edge, which peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200, is the group's highest-charting album in the States, and features the classic songs "And You and I" and "Siberian Khatru." Going for the One yielded the memorable tunes "Wondrous Stories" and the title track.
In the middle of the tour, Yes will headline the previously announced Cruise to the Edge. The musical sea voyage will run from March 25 to March 30, and will visit Grand Cayman Island and Ochos Rios, Jamaica. Check out CruisetotheEdge.com to find out more about the trip.
