Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison Featured on "Not Fade Away" Soundtrack

ABKCO RecordsEarly tunes by The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Van Morrison are among the songs featured on the soundtrack album to Not Fade Away, the feature-film directorial debut from The Sopranos creator David Chase.  The record, which was produced by E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt, will be released on December 18, three days before the movie hits theaters.

Not Fade Away tells the story of a group of friends from suburban New Jersey who are inspired to form a band after seeing The Rolling Stones play on TV in 1964.  Among the songs appearing on the soundtrack are The Stones' "Tell Me" and "Parachute Woman," Dylan's "She Belongs to Me" and Morrison's "T.B. Sheets," as well as gems from The Moody Blues, The Rascals, The Small Faces, James Brown and The Sex Pistols.

In addition, the album includes renditions of several classic '60s songs attributed to The Twylight Zones, the fictional group featured in the movie.  These recordings feature vocals by the film's stars John Magaro and Jack Huston, along with music from a backing band that includes Van Zandt and two other E Street Band members, drummer Max Weinberg and bassist Gary Tallent.

"David Chase realizes that in film, like Bruce Springsteen in music, the more detailed, accurate and nuanced the personal vision, the more compelling the work ends up being," says Van Zandt about the movie.  "Helping David realize his vision was one of the most satisfying projects of my life."
