The Fray: Playing Super Bowl Pregame Show Is "Unreal"
Facebook.com/TheFrayThe Fray hails from Denver, Colorado, so you can be sure they're not happy that Tim Tebow and their beloved Broncos aren't going to be playing at the Super Bowl this Sunday. But you know who is playing at the Super Bowl? They are.
The Fray will perform as part of the official Super Bowl XLVI pregame festivities leading up to kickoff on Sunday night. It's not the band's first time at the big game -- they played at a Budweiser-sponsored event last year -- but this is even more prestigious. Lead singer Isaac Slade tells ABC News Radio, "This is just one step closer. That [event last year] was the day before. This year, we'll be playing three hours before, and it's on TV. It's unreal." And for Isaac and the rest of the band, simply being there is half the fun. "There's a whole fever there that you get just from watching it game day, but to be there is a whole different thing," he says.
Guitarist Joe King, still fretting about the Broncos not making it to the end, says he doesn't want to root for either the Giants or the Patriots. "Right now, I just hope it's a good game," he tells ABC News Radio. "You know, not a blow out. Just something that is just absolutely entertaining and back and forth and -- I think at this point, since the poor Broncos are gone -- yeah, I just want a good game."
Another thing Joe wants is to check out Madonna's half time show. He thinks she's the perfect choice for the job, telling ABC News Radio, "Yeah, I mean, she's been proven over years and years just being an absolute, you know, pop star, so...I'm very curious just what it's gonna look like. And I'd love to meet her!"
The Fray releases its new album, Scars & Stories, February 7, two days after the Super Bowl. The album is now available for streaming at iTunes.
