These days, it's rare for an artist to be with the same record company for five years, let along five decades, but Barbra Streisand is not just any artist. La Streisand has just re-signed with Columbia Records, the label she's been with for an astonishing 50 years.
The good news for fans is that the diva will mark her golden anniversary with some special releases. Columbia plans to issue a 12-DVD set featuring "unprecedented access" into Streisand's life, via never-before-seen footage directly from her own archives.
Babs originally signed with Columbia in the early sixties; her first album, The Barbra Streisand Album, came out in 1963. She said in a statement, "From the day [I was signed] almost 50 years ago, Columbia Records has been my recording home, and I am thrilled to continue that partnership for many years to come."
