In January, Elton John said that Justin Timberlake was his #1 pick to play him a movie biopic that would be a "surreal look" at his life. Now, word comes that the project is moving along -- Elton's partner, David Furnish, tells E! Online that Elton and Justin have discussed the film, but they now need to find a director.
"It's important we all share the same vision," Furnish told E! "Justin also says he has to feel comfortable with the director and the director has to be comfortable with Justin. The chemistry is really important. There's no race to make this. We're just going to take the time to make it right." Furnish also revealed that he and Elton also have discussed turning the legendary performer's life into a Broadway musical. But, he explained, "We just want to do the movie, first."
Timberlake first portrayed a young Elton in the video for John's 2001 single "This Train Don't Stop There Anymore," and he looked exactly like him.
Meanwhile, Elton and David will co-host their annual Academy Awards Viewing Party this Sunday night, featuring gourmet food prepared by Iron Chef Cat Cora and entertainment from the band Foster the People. Among the many stars expected to attend the bash, which raises funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, are Smokey Robinson and Steven Tyler.
