Elton John & Justin Timberlake Searching for Director for Biopic
Credit: Joseph GuayIn January, Elton John said that Justin Timberlake was his #1 pick to play him a movie biopic that would be a "surreal look" at his life. Now, word comes that the project is moving along -- Elton's partner David Furnish tells E! Online that Justin and Elton have discussed the film, but they now need to find a director.
"It's important we all share the same vision," Furnish told E! "Justin also says he has to feel comfortable with the director and the director has to be comfortable with Justin. The chemistry is really important. There's no race to make this. We're just going to take the time to make it right." Furnish also revealed that he and Elton have also discussed turning the legendary performer's life into a Broadway musical, too. But, he explained, "We just want to do the movie, first."
Justin first portrayed a young Elton in the video for Elton's 2001 single "This Train Don't Stop There Anymore," and he looked exactly like him.
Meanwhile, Elton and David will co-host their annual Academy Awards Viewing Party this Sunday night, featuring gourmet food prepared by Iron Chef Cat Cora and entertainment from the band Foster the People.
