Jackson Browne Among Many "Friends" Featured on Jack Johnson's Upcoming Live Compilation

Photo: Alan KaslowskiJackson Browne is one of the many artists who will appear on an upcoming compilation featuring live performances from jam-band artist Jack Johnson's annual Kokua Festival in Hawaii.  The 13-track album, Jack Johnson and Friends -- Best of Kokua Festival, will hit stores on April 17, and will include collaborations with Browne, country legend Willie Nelson, blues great Taj Mahal, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Dave Matthews, and Ziggy and Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley.

Browne is featured on two tracks, a version of his classic song "Take It Easy" and a rendition of Hawaiian singer/songwriter John Cruz's "Island Style."  Both performances also include Johnson and Cruz.  Among the other tunes appearing on the track list are covers of Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released," Bob Marley's "High Tide or Low Tide" and Jimmy Buffett's "A Pirate Looks at Forty."

Proceeds from the album will benefit the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Johnson and his wife in 2003 to support environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaii.
