Eric Clapton and The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards lead the impressive list of musicians set to perform Friday night at a tribute concert for influential blues guitarist Hubert Sumlin at New York City's famed Apollo Theater. In the days leading up to the show, the lineup has continued to expand and now features ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, Elvis Costello and The Allman Brothers Band's Warren Haynes. Previously announced acts include the aforementioned Clapton and Richards, as well as The Allmans' Derek Trucks, Buddy Guy, David Johansen and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
The show, dubbed Howlin' for Hubert: Celebrating the Musical Legacy of Hubert Sumlin, will benefit the Jazz Foundation of America. Sumlin, who was the longtime guitarist for blues legend Howlin' Wolf, died of heart failure at the age of 80 on December 4 after a battle with lung cancer.
