James Taylor fans with a bit of musical ability now can learn how to play his classic song "Fire and Rain" with instruction from the folk-rock legend himself. On Wednesday, Taylor posted an in-depth video lesson at his official website and YouTube channel detailing the guitar chords and picking intricacies needed to master the 1970 hit.
The instructional clip actually is the fourth installment of an ongoing free Web series Taylor debuted back in December. The demonstration, which was shot in high definition, features slow motion segments and multiple camera angles to help make it easier for viewers to learn how to play the song.
Taylor also has launched a contest offering a signed, personalized copy of the "Fire and Rain" vocal part taken from the singer/songwriter's own library. For a chance to win, visit JamesTaylor.com/Contests/GuitarLessons/, share the clip with others and fill out the submittal form at the site. A winner will be revealed on June 11.
Previous editions of Taylor's guitar lesson series have featured the songs "Little Wheel," "Second Wheel" and "Country Road."
