"American Idol's" Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez Set for Final
Michael Becker/ FOXJessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips will compete for the American Idol crown this week with a final performance show Tuesday and a results finale set for Wednesday.
There have been four male winners in the last four seasons, so 16-year-old Jessica has her work cut out for her. She’s considered by many to be the favorite, and displays a confidence seldom seen in a girl her age. Song selection for the final performance show is key and Jessica is well aware of that, saying, "I love my song choices, I'm comfortable with all my songs and I'm really excited to perform them."
As for her performance, Jessica says, "...I'm just gonna bring it all out. I'm just gonna put my heart into every single song that sing, even if I have a little part of it, and just do my best.
Phillip Phillips, on the other hand, freely admits, “I'm not that good.” The 21-year-old says there have been “so many amazing artists” in the competition this season, and he “just happened to get lucky.”
Still, Phillip understands the process and knows he wants a career in music. “You can't take it serious, but you know if you stop having fun with it that's when it becomes a job, and, you know, I don't want to make it a job, I want to make it fun, you know, and a career for the rest of my life, you know. I just want to do something I love.”
The American Idol two-part finale airs Tuesday and Wednesday on Fox.
