Fans of a certain age may hesitate to acknowlege that it's been over 25 years since Peter Gabriel's classic So album was released. Mr. Gabriel himself has no such qualms -- he's just announced a North American tour in celebration of the milestone.
Dubbed the Back to Front tour, the brief outing will feature Gabriel and members of the original So touring band playing the iconic 1986 album in its entirety, as well as other selections from Gabriel's catalog. To coincide with the tour, Gabriel will re-release So on September 18 as a single CD, a special edition three-CD set, and a so-called "super deluxe" box set.
Although the Back to Front tour's being touted as marking the 25th anniversary of So's release, the album was actually released 26 years ago, in May of 1986. Last May, however, Gabriel was busy touring behind his New Blood release, which features remixes and orchestral arrangements of his hits.
The Back to Front tour kicks off September 18 in Quebec City, Quebec and wraps Tuesday, October 9 in Santa Barbara, CA -- 13 stops in 13 cities. Tickets go on sale for fan club members only beginning tomorrow in Canada and on May 31 in the U.S., with general sales to follow at Ticketmaster and LiveNation.com.
