Donna Summer's Album Sales Increase by More than 3,000%

Facebook.com/DonnaSummerIt's a sad fact of life that some artists see their best album sales after they leave this world for the next.  Donna Summer, who died last week, has seen her album sales increase by a whopping 3,277 percent, according to Nielsen Soundscan.

As Billboard reports, the week before she died, Summer sold about 1,000 albums.  After her death, that number soared to 26,000.  Four of her albums have now re-entered the Billboard album chart: On the Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes I & II, Endless Summer: Donna Summer's Greatest Hits, The Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer and Greatest Hits.

Summer did even better with digital downloads, experiencing a sales increase overall of 4,115 percent from the previous week.  In fact, she sold more than twice as many downloads last week as she did in all of 2012 prior to her death.  Her biggest seller was "Last Dance" -- which enters the Hot Digital Songs chart at #45 --  followed by "On the Radio."
