While the future of Gorillaz and Blur remain uncertain, frontman Damon Albarn has announced that he’s in the middle of working on a new solo album.
"This week we're mucking around with these Russian synthesizers in a very loose mind of doing some kind of record under my name,” Albarn tells BBC Radio 4. “I suppose you could call it a solo record, but I don't like that word. It sounds very lonely -- solo. I don't really want to be solo in my life. But yeah, I'm making another record."
In other Albarn news, the singer will be joining Blur to perform at the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony Celebration Concert in Hyde Park in London on August 12. Other bands performing at the event include New Order and The Specials.
