"Somebody That I Used to Know" Is Now the Longest-Running #1 of the Year

Credit: Cybele MalinowksiIf it seems as though you're hearing "Somebody That I Used to Know" everywhere you go, it's not your imagination.  The Gotye hit has now notched a seventh week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it 2012's longest-running chart-topper.  The previous record for the longest-running #1 of 2012 was six weeks, held by fun.'s "We Are Young."

In clinching that seventh week, the song has now also become the longest-running #1 by a male artist since 2010, when Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" spent seven weeks on top.

In addition to being #1 on the Hot 100, "Somebody That I Used to Know" has also reached #1 on several other Billboard charts, from pop to alternative to dance, making it a true multi-format smash.
