Josh Turner Hopes to Inspire Fans with New Album, "Punching Bag," Out Now

CMAJosh Turner's new album, Punching Bag, is in stores this week featuring his latest single, "Time Is Love."  The title of the album comes from one of the songs on the new project.  It was inspired by a conversation Josh had with his wife Jennifer about one of those days when he felt like the world was against him.

He says, "In the course of the conversation I told her I felt like a punching bag.  I felt like life was beating me up, and when I said that, it felt like a song title to me.  So, I wrote it down real quick."

Josh went on to write the song with his collaborator Pat McLaughlin and then decided the song would be a great title for the entire album.

"It just felt like something that I felt like everybody could relate to no matter what age they were, no matter where they were from," Josh explains.

He hopes the song and album encourage fans to overcome the rough times in their lives.  Josh says, "I wanted them to be able to be tough enough to take those punches and keep moving forward."

Josh's new album also includes a collaboration with Ricky Skaggs on "For the Love of God."

Josh has several TV appearances coming up to promote Punching Bag including a performance on NBC's Today Wednesday. He'll sing on PBS's A Capitol Fourth on July 4. A July 11 performance on ABC's Good Morning America is also on the books.
