Next month, Matisyahu will deliver his first album in three years, Spark Seeker. The singer says that his new album features a cohesive storyline that he feels fans will gravitate towards.
“I feel like if you listen to it start to finish it tells a story, it’s like one piece,” Matisyahu tells ABC News Radio. “[I feel] like a kid in a candy store. The record has that feel to it, it’s crunchy and it’s melodic and it’s hooky and it’s the kind of songs you want to bump in your car or you want to listen to and just connect with right away.”
Matisyahu added that despite the fact that Spark Seeker features a mixture of musical styles, the new material will still be identifiable to his fans. “It’s still a Matisyahu record,” explains the singer. “It’s got depth to it, it’s got content. It’s a couple of years of my studying, my learning and everything that I can put into it…I don’t just write love songs.”
You’ll be able to check it out for yourselves when Spark Seeker arrives in stores on July 17.
