Aretha Franklin Ready to Lend Her Expertise to TV Music Competition

Aretha's RecordsAretha Franklin doesn't seem like the type to sit by the phone and wait, but she tells the Chicago Sun-Times that she can't understand why she and some of her musical peers haven't gotten a buzz from the folks behind programs like American Idol or The Voice.  "I watch those shows from time to time," Aretha tells the newspaper.  "I don't understand why singers like myself, Gladys [Knight], Natalie [Cole] and Patti [LaBelle] can't be judges."

The Queen of Soul tells the Chicago Sun-Times that some of the talent featured on the television music competitions is "very good.  Some of it is fun.  And some of it is really wild."

Aretha isn't hard-pressed to fill her schedule, of course.  She has concerts to prepare for, including a headlining gig at the 17th Annual N’DIGO Legend de Soul event on June 30 at Chicago's Arie Crown Theatre.
