Elton John will be the keynote speaker at the 19th International AIDS Conference, scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C., next month. Elton will deliver his address on Monday, July 23, during a session on Public Private Partnerships. The other speakers at this year's conference include Bill Gates and former President Bill Clinton.
The theme of the conference is "Turning the Tide Together." John's speech will focus on how the AIDS epidemic can be turned around by focusing on the needs of those who are most at risk of HIV infection, as well as fighting homophobia and removing the stigma from the disease.
In its 20 years of existence, Elton John's AIDS Foundation has raised over $275 million for the cause.
